Yes, exactly you have read it correctly. WhatsApp now even more interesting. Already it comes with UPI Pay, Dark Mode, Business Mode for WhatsApp, Fingerprint  Lock, Group Chat and now they came up with Group Video and Voice Calls supports upto 8 participants.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic many countries are in Lockdown state, many people are doing Work from Home and in every case either we are connecting each other with video call for gossiping or office meeting. This has accelerated the demand of using video conferencing app.

Over the last month, people on average are spending over 15 billion minutes talking each day on WhatsApp calls, well above the normal in pre Pandemic stage. This conferencing facility also comes with end to end encryption just like in the case of written messages. The WhatsApp platform have build group calling in a way that makes it available for as many users as possible, including people on lower end devices and slow network conditions.

People want different ways to connect while they are at home, which is why WhatsApp is also available on Portal.
To access the new, higher participant limit on WhatsApp calls, all partipant in a call need to update to the latest version of whatsApp available RI iphone or Android today. To whom you want to make call, they too need to update for supporting increased participants.

Go to Google Play search for WhatsApp Messenger, you will see the update option on the right. Update it.
