Cybercrime caused a loss of Rs 365 crores to Karnataka in 2022. Two new cybersecurity labs will be set up in Shivamogga and Tumakuru. Currently, Bengaluru is the only city in Karnataka with a cybersecurity lab. The Chief Minister, Basavraj Bommai, made this announcement in the budget, saying that cybersecurity is a top priority. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) data shows that since 2019, cybercriminals have stolen Rs 722 crores. Experts believe that more awareness of cyber fraud is necessary, and a bill needs to be passed to protect the citizens from cybercrime.
